A sensor feeds data to the car's electronics: a parking sensor in the bumper measures the distance to an obstacle, a blind-spot (BSD) sensor spots a car alongside.

A faulty sensor often shows as a warning on the dashboard or a constant beep from the parking system.

When buying, check that the new sensor's shape and connector match the old one: even one model can have several types.
